The University of Guadalajara sought a solution to transition all its documentation and student records onto a digital platform. This initiative was driven by various factors, including the goal of going paperless and achieving more streamlined access to data. With a well-defined set of requirements, our main objective was to ensure an optimal user experience for this digital platform.
Considering our client’s interest in an intranet-like software, we recommended a cloud-based platform to store all their information. During this process, we elucidated the benefits of utilizing the cloud as opposed to a traditional intranet. Collaborating closely with stakeholders and users, we embarked on the experience definition phase. We initiated by visually organizing all required information and categorizing it in a manner that was intuitively logical for users. This entailed conducting a card sorting exercise to group fields in a way that resonated coherently with everyone involved.
The design was deliberately kept visually clean, given its primary function as an administration tool, with a primary focus on information consultation by users. We underwent several iterations to refine the content structure, resulting in a solution that effectively addressed both the client’s requirements and the users’ needs.
While the platform was initially crafted with our client’s specific needs in mind, we recognized its broader applicability across various companies. Consequently, we opted to embark on the creation of a product that could cater to a wider range of scenarios. This marked the inception of Boombase, an adaptable solution designed to accommodate diverse use cases.
